Seaweed 23 / Ceramic Pendant

White and blue Delft-style ceramic pendant with algae imprint.

The pendant's front relief was created using a dried branch of marine algae collected on the shore near the fort of Saint-Malo in Brittany, France. The back is decorated with the Roman number "23," which can refer to the collection year, date of birth, a person`s age, or another numeric memory.

The ceramic piece was hand-made and hand-glazed. To achieve its final look, it was fired in a kiln at least twice at different temperatures. The pendant rests on a contrasting thin gold-colored chain. This piece is unique and exists in a single version only.

I do my best to make photographs as faithful as possible. However, depending on the light, the hues may appear slightly different from the original.
