Collection: Mini beach combing
When I first started making jewellery, I was living on Okinawa Island in Japan, and naturally, most of my creations were full of specimens picked from the local beaches. The most addictive part of my creative process was what I call "home beach combing"—browsing through my flasks and boxes to find just the right thing for the piece I'm making. Enjoying this so deeply, I decided to share the beachcombing-in-miniature experience with fellow gatherers and shoreline wanderers.
I create miniature ceramic beachcombing sets for sorting sand and tiny seashells at home. They offer a dedicated space for examining, separating, and organising beach finds in a focused, hands-on way, allowing the process of discovery to continue long after leaving the shore. My sets are made with hand-sculpted ceramics, often mimicking rocky seashores, coral structures, or wave patterns. While each set is utterly unique, they usually include a sorting tray, combined with different display and storage options, and complemented by a stylized magnifying glass. While I love finding nature’s masterpieces, I'm not obsessed with hoarding. I create to share, so I offer my sets accompanied by real beach samples, composed of sand enriched with tiny shells and unusual sand particles selected from my personal collection.
