Mollusque en Bleu / Porcelain Pendant

Small porcelain necklace with archival scientific illustration.

The illustration is a fragment from Arnould Locard’s “Mollusques testacés,” part of the series “Expéditions scientifiques du Travailleur et du Talisman” published in Paris by Masson around 1897–1898.​
This work describes shelled mollusks collected during the deep‑sea scientific cruises of the French ships in the 1880–1883 campaigns.

This necklace is hand-sculpted from strong porcelain, fired to its vitrified state. The front side features small gastropod shell illustration transferred in copper and magnesium oxides. The back side of the porcelain circle is covered with bronze metallic glaze.

The necklace rests on blue cotton cord finished with golden-coloured clasp. It was produced in a single version and represents a unique piece of jewellery.
