The article "Two Toarcian Ammonites" by S. S. Buckmanwas was published in November 1903 in the Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society, Volume 59. It describes two ammonites that have been found by members of the Cotteswold Naturalists' Field-Club. The plates in the article were illustrated by F.H. Michael. One of these illustrations — of the ammonite genus Deroceras (known as Eoderoceras in current taxonomy) — celebrates both the refined beauty of scientific drawing and the graceful forms of these Early Jurassic creatures.
This listing is for porcelain earrings with archival scientific illustration. Each piece is hand-sculpted from strong porcelain, fired hot so it’s tough and smooth. The surface carries illustration of Derocers (Eoderoceras) ammonite from 1903 scientific publication, transferred with cobalt oxide that burns into a deep sea-blue.
The porcelain pieces are about 4 cm in diameter, giving them the bold scale of statement earrings. Their size carries a certain weight, yet the delicate porcelain sheet keeps them comfortably wearable.
These earrings represent a unique piece of jewellery.
