Catchy, smart, queer. Porcelain necklace with archival scientific illustration.

The main piece was hand-sculpted from strong porcelain, fired hot so it’s tough and smooth. The surface carries archival scientific illustration, transferred with cobalt oxide that burns into a deep sea-blue. This illustration showing lumpfish is a fragment 19th‑century scientific plate from Peter (P. Yu.) Schmidt’s Russian ichthyological work “Рыбы восточных морей” (“Fishes of the Eastern Seas”). Lumpsuckers (family Cyclopteridae) are small to medium marine fishes with round, almost spherical bodies covered in bony tubercles and rough skin. They have pelvic fins modified into a suction disc that lets them cling to rocks, kelp, and other surfaces in strong currents.

The necklace is double-sided, with lateral image of the fish on one side ant front image on the other. The necklace rests on blue cotton not-twisted cord finished with golden-coloured clasp to match the maritime spirit of the main piece. It was produced in a single version and represents a unique piece of jewellery. The indicated price is for one necklace, other items are not included.
